after mukatsuku records summer hammond organ screamer from billy hawks (mukat 052) the label goes deep on an international funk tip. few years ago label manager nik played in france and the promoter pulled out a biosis now 45 that he never knew existed up till then and was generally thought to be a long album track only. an extensive search revealed nothing online including popsike/discogs/ebay except a tropical seller who d just bought a huge caribbean collection with the record included saying he d never seen it before either and he was keeping itâ&#128,¦failing to secure a copy themselves the label licensed it instead and created their own 45 edit which retains all the funk & soul of the elongated album version into a 7 inch friendly format. on the flipside and 1973 tumba safari from afro train get s a funky afrobeat re touch for peak time club play that would save you several hundred pounds on an original if you could actually find a copy !

for the first release on the wysing polyphonic label three-piece ectopia have created a suite of seven new works in which intricate cello and screeching and spoken word vocals are carried along on a wave of dark electronica, taking the listener on a journey into sad acid house, scratched dvds, lipstick clogged with rolling tobacco and hangovers with absent lovers.
ectopia are adam christensen, jack brennan and viki steiri. previous works have included sound-tracking jack smith’s experimental film normal love (1963) and carl theodor dreyer’s the passion of joan of arc (1928). they recently played a sell-out show at london’s ica in a wysing polyphonic showcase that also featured xname, siren and n-prolenta who made their uk live debut.
wysing polyphonic has emerged from the wysing polyphonic music festival, now in its 8th year, which has programmed the likes of beatric dillon, elaine mitchener, hannah sawtell, helena hauff, holly herndon, james holden, karen gwyer, klara lewis, nik colk void and russell haswell, amongst many others, play at the cambridgeshire centre.

12inch whitelabel, limited to 300 hand stamped and numbered copies, coverartwork by utramoodem. schockglatze is the distillate of a longstanding collaboration between artists working across the frontiers of several forms. with audio- visual performances, band projects and international exhibitions as part of their armoury, spõnk, nik nowak and moritz stumm have been causing a stir within the art and music worlds for years. spõnk has already cooperated with a range of acclaimed vocalists including warrior queen, sensational and christoph waltz. he forms the solid basis and is the sonic central nervous system (scns) for the studio productions of schockglatze. nik nowak, most notably through his sound tank or ôpanzerö (2011), has in recent years worked closely with musicians such as (the late) dj rashad and dj spinn, and sonic poly-math the bug. last but not least moritz stumm aka ultramoodem, who brings to schockglatze an inimitable rhythmicity and graphic dimension. as a graphic artist, vj and video director he created a singular technique of synergetic audio-visual effects redolent of a hyper-voodooism, the aesthetic of which has become a signature style of schockglatze. the warlord ep showcases their various influences and is only a taste of the sound from éheart of the mandelbulbÆ and includes a remix by hyperdubÆs ikonika

around was the first song from same language different worlds that everybody heard. tim burgess had sent a home made cd-r to lauren laverne as soon as the record was completed and she texted asking if a song could be featured on the 6music show that morning. peter gordon and tim had spent the precious few months crafting the album in new york, norfolk & manchester - tim sent the song to pete kember and proclaimed the resultant remix as “one of the best tracks i ve ever had the pleasure of being involved with”.
with additional remixes by nik void, david cunningham and jd twitch (optimo), it’s a perfect vinyl release to celebrate the tenth rsd.

finally, justus köhncke is unveiling new tracks! his first release since justus köhncke & the wonderful frequency band (kompakt, 2013) is both daring and serious. five songs in german, interpretations of material by howard carpendale, juliane werding and nik p. plus english-into-german translations of two pop classics (twist in my sobriety by tanita tikaram, captain of her heart by double). this is not an ironic joke about seemingly stupid music or schlager: köhncke embraces these five compositions and turns them into his own. they transmutate into his very own vision of nu-german comps-soul‹ while retaining justus unique sound.
